Derek's comments:
After playing 10 shows w/ Yngwie in South America
the year before, Yngwie invited me to play on his new CD,"Attack."
I flew down to Miami, and finished all of my tracks
in 4-5 days at Yngwie's mansion/Studio 308.
As we were tracking, Yngwie, would switch Rolex watches
five times during an 8 hr session. He would never announce
it, but he would quietly leave the room, and would shortly
return with a new Rolex on...I like it!!!
Yngwie knew exactly what he wanted keyboard-wise
which was unison runs doubled with a harpsichord patch, choirs
and strings throughout the CD. I was disappointed that he
didn't make room for me to shred ala Jens Johannson in his
early CDs, but I am glad that I could give him what he wanted.
There was an instrumental titled "Baroque And
Roll" that stood out to me.
It was after I completed this session that Yngwie
immediately played three songs on my solo CD, "Black
Utopia."
Fast facts:
* Yngwie played on 3 songs on my solo CD "Black
Utopia" immediately after I finished my last track
on "Attack."
* Tom Fletcher who engineered and mixed"Attack"
also engineered my first demo tape in 1988. He also did my
first solo ,"Planet X"
(1999) and Planet X "Universe"
(2000). Tom also engineered the Al DiMeola and Yngwie sessions
on "Black Utopia".
* Yngwie first flew me to Miami in February 1999
to play with him, I think he was thinking about firing his
keyboardist at the time, but ended up keeping him. |
